Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
At Cape Regenerative Medicine, we are proud to offer musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound, a safe, non-invasive imaging technique that provides real-time visualization of muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and nerves. With decades of experience, our providers have performed thousands of ultrasound examinations and procedures, ensuring patients receive the highest level of precision and care.
What is MSK Ultrasound?
MSK ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed pictures of the body’s soft
tissues and joints. Unlike X-rays or CT scans, ultrasound does not use radiation and allows for
dynamic imaging, meaning we can assess movement, function, and pain in real time.
How It’s Performed?
During the exam, a small handheld device called a transducer is placed on the skin over the area
of concern. A gel is applied to allow smooth movement and clear imaging. The process is quick,
comfortable, and typically completed in less than 30 minutes. Patients remain awake and can
often watch the screen as their provider explains the findings.
What to Expect?
-
No preparation is needed.
-
Painless and radiation-free procedure.
-
Real-time feedback during the scan.
-
Immediate discussion of results with your provider.
Conditions MSK Ultrasound Can Diagnose
-
Tendon injuries and tears (rotator cuff, Achilles, biceps, etc.)
-
Ligament sprains and tears
-
Muscle injuries or strains
-
Joint inflammation and arthritis
-
Nerve entrapments (such as carpal tunnel syndrome)
-
Bursitis, cysts, and other soft tissue abnormalities
Why MSK Ultrasound Matters for Orthobiologics
One of the greatest advantages of MSK ultrasound is its ability to guide and monitor treatments with
remarkable precision. For patients receiving regenerative therapies—such as platelet-rich
plasma (PRP) or stem cell–based orthobiologics—ultrasound ensures that the injection is
delivered exactly where it is needed. This level of accuracy improves outcomes, enhances safety,
and helps patients recover faster. During your recovery we will be able to monitor your progress and ensure that our treatments are providing maximum benefit.
